“In 2018 my grandpa passed away. He was an excellent narrator, but he loved silence. Perhaps this is why in his 80s he started taking pictures with an old compact camera he always carried with him. He never asked for instructions, and he never saw his images. Nobody did. Until recently. Looking at his photos, I was touched by the close parallels with some qualities of our photographs. Our different realities, but common anxieties, reveal a code of communication between us”.
Echoes of Flowers and Lemons emerged in March 2021 in the form of a photobook mostly as a farewell ritual, and a last encounter with my grandpa through our photos, and silence.
